Jinno: we're happy and excited!. our new album "Trance N Roll" is released now, and we feel like we have a new baby born to the world ! Jiga: i'm excited too. and tired ! We just came back from our show in Japan and my time schedulable is upside-down. i sleep in the day and work in the night... How do you meet? and how does that lead to your music? Jiga: it all began 7 years ago in Israe, I phoned Jinno...i said: do you have 5 minutes for me?... Jinno: and the 5 minutes became 7 years! Jiga: we both had some studio equipment but not enough money to buy more We thought combining our equipment together will be a good solution. Jinno: we come from different directions, Jiga came from Rock and i came from Trance. our differences have advantages and disadvantages too. We had to go through a long process of working together and finding a melting point. it took 3 years before Analog Pussy was actually born. How did each one of you start in the music? Jiga: i was born in Jerusalem, Israel. i was listening to metal and rock and when i was 15 i played bass guitar in many punk bands, spraying the "Anarchy" sign in the streets of Tel Aviv. Most of our songs were about death and being unconnected to the world. i had enough of the dark side when i was 19. Then I heard trance music for the first time. it was so full of life, with awareness to the body and soul and yet very powerful and kicking. that was exactly what i was looking for as an artist. Jinno: i was born in Montevideo Uruguay, and heard a lot of classical music and Tango when i was a child. Our family moved to Israel when i was 4 years old. When i was a teenager i got a synthesizer from a friend and then another and soon i was experimenting in connecting them together, and adding a beat to it from a drum machine. back then trance didn't exist, i didn't know what i was doing. Later on it got a name - Goa Trance. If you must define your personality, how qualify it? Jinno: it's hard to analyze myself. i can say about Jiga that she's workaholic and a bit of a control freak ! she's also my best friend. Jiga: Jinno has two personalities one is the "mister label manager" and one is the little kid that is dancing around the house and the studio. On your last album Trance'N roLL,for you that symbolize compared to the other albums, is it different? Jinno: “Trance N Roll” is as it sounds: Full on Trance with Rock N Roll. it has a new sound that was never done in Psy Trance. You need to be open minded to understand this album. it is not the normal formulated trance. Jiga: what was different about this album to me personally was the way we worked on it.. Our main attention was the LIVE aspect, We didn't want to use samples and we recorded live instruments in our studio. Electric and Acoustic Guitars, bass, side-flute, Cello, and Vocals it was not easy because we until now were used to pure computer and machines work , but it was a lot of fun. If i asked, you to define your music, on the rythmick one, sonorities, the style, which would be your definition? Jinno: the style changes from album to album. Still, all our albums have the Analog Pussy touch. "Psycho Bitch from hell", our first album was pure melodic goa trance, "Underground" the album following it ,was dark progressive trance. Jiga: and now "Trance N Roll" - the new album. It sounds like a Jam session between Psy trance, Deep Purple, bob Marley and the sex-pistols. How work together, and how organizes on scene the partyes? Jinno: sometimes we sit together in the studio from the beginning of the song until the end. this is very hard because we dont always agree on the sounds or the production. sometimes Jiga starts the song, and then she leaves the studio and i come inside and continue the work. or i start a song and Jiga finishes it. we discovered that when we change our ways of working, we explore new production methods and it gives the songs a different aspect. if you are stuck all the time in the same working method you start to repeat yourself. so our "trick" is to change all the time Jiga: we have two studio, in the main studio we use: Analog synths like Moog, MS10, CS5, Poly 800, Matrix 6, Matrix 1000, and some Digital synths like Virus and Waldorf. we love to use soft synths like Reaktor and different Cubase VSTi. Soundscape - which is an audio hardware machine, 2 samplers, an 02R mixer and all is sequenced by Cubase. in the 2nd studio we use only computers with soft ware instruments and more Soundscape units. everything in this studio is done on the computer! the only thing coming outside of the computer in this studio is recording live instruments like cellos, acoustic guitars, bass guitars and vocals. What think of the evolution of the trance goa from your meeting to today, through time and the countries where you have realise your partyes? Jinno: we are happy with the evolving of the scene. a genre of music that keeps on changing will stay alive and kicking. As a record label, it astonishes us how intelligent and fresh is the new psy music being released now. Jiga: i agree with Jinno. For example - 5 years ago trance didn't exist in Mexico or was very undergeound and small. now it's just exploding there. many young mexican artists create killer tracks and it gives new "blood" to the scene. Thank you all the two for having answered these questions, a little word of the end. Jiga: come visit our website, download our mp3's, see the videos and write to us what you think of the music. We always like to read comments from the people. Communicating with our listeners is great pleasure to me, almost as much as performing live ! http://www.analog-pussy.com |
